Customer Service

Currency

All prices listed in the store are in US dollars.

Payment

Orders placed by individuals or organizations must be prepaid. VISA, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover credit cards and PayPal are accepted and all transactions are secured by SSL secure software.

Retail Bookstores

Schools

Schools not paying by credit card must provide a written purchase order. For assistance contact customer service at customer.service@greatbooks.org or 800·222·5870. Fax documents to 312·407·0224. To take advantage of a special offer when paying by purchase order, include the coupon code on the cover sheet. In addition, please refer to the sales tax information below.

Sales Tax

The law requires the Great Books Foundation to collect sales tax in Arizona, California, Colorado, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington. Individuals cannot claim tax-exempt status. Only nonprofit organizations with a tax-exempt ID number can claim tax-exempt status.

Schools in Arizona, California, North Carolina, and Washington are not tax-exempt and are therefore subject to sales tax.

Tax-exempt organizations in states that are subject to sales tax must contact customer service at customer.service@greatbooks.org or 800-222-5870 before placing an order.

Canadian customers are responsible for any taxes and fees charged by Canadian customs.

Special Offers

Special offers may not be combined and may not be applied to previous purchases.

Shipping

UPS Ground: Shipping charges are 8% on material list prices, minimum $4.50 per order.

Please allow one to two weeks for delivery of orders shipped UPS Ground. UPS requires a street address for delivery; no P.O. Boxes, please. Shipping charges noted here apply to orders within the United States and Canada.

Customers outside the United States and Canada must email customer service at customer.service@greatbooks.org or call 312·332·5870 to place their orders. 

All orders to APO or FPO addresses are sent via US Postal Service First Class at the standard shipping charge.

Returns

Customers must call 800·222·5870 for return authorization. Returns must be accompanied by a return authorization number, along with the original order number. Unauthorized returns will be refused. Returns by schools and bookstores must be authorized within 90 days of customer receipt. All other returns must be authorized within 30 days. Materials to be returned must be unopened and in resalable condition. A $.50 restocking fee will be charged for each item returned.

Changes

Changes to existing orders, including delivery or billing address changes, are subject to a $5.00 fee.
