Our customer service department is ready to take your order, answer your questions, or solve a problem. email or call 800·222·5870 (312·332·5870 outside the United States). Customer service is available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., central time.


All prices listed in the store are in US dollars.


Orders placed by individuals or organizations must be prepaid. VISA, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover credit cards and PayPal are accepted and all transactions are secured by SSL secure software.

Retail Bookstores

Sales Tax

The law requires the Great Books Foundation to collect sales tax in Arizona, California, Colorado, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington. Individuals cannot claim tax-exempt status. Only nonprofit organizations with a tax-exempt ID number can claim tax-exempt status.

Schools in Arizona, California, North Carolina, and Washington are not tax-exempt and are therefore subject to sales tax.

Tax-exempt organizations in states that are subject to sales tax must contact customer service at or 800-222-5870 before placing an order.

Special offers may not be combined and may not be applied to previous purchases.


UPS Ground: Shipping charges are 8% on material list prices, minimum $4.50 per order.

For June 15, 2018, through July 15, 2018, please allow up to three to four weeks for delivery of orders shipped UPS Ground. UPS requires a street address for delivery; no P.O. Boxes, please. Shipping charges noted here apply to orders within the United States.

Customers outside the United States must email customer service at or call 312·332·5870 to place their orders. 

All orders to APO or FPO addresses are sent via US Postal Service Military Mail at the standard shipping charge.


Customers must call 800·222·5870 for return authorization. Returns must be accompanied by a return authorization number, along with the original order number. Unauthorized returns will be refused. Returns by schools and bookstores must be authorized within 90 days of customer receipt. All other returns must be authorized within 30 days. Materials to be returned must be unopened and in resalable condition. A $3.00 restocking fee will be charged for each item returned.


Changes to existing orders, including delivery or billing address changes, are subject to a $5.00 fee.
